The questions above are just some guidelines for our comments for Chapter 1 where we look at things differently from a child's perspective.

As adults, we tend to perceive things differently from the kids. We tend to judge very quickly and design our lessons that we thought are suitable our pupils....that we thought they are learning from OUR LEARNING style. However, the kids now are diversely different from our time. Therefore, we need to carefully design our strategies in our lessons to suit their learning style (Hint : more interactive lessons) For eg : the pupils are very engaged during a skit or drama presentation by our external vendors, teachers and pupils during assembly or special events. No one has to go around and get them to pay attention in the hall because the 'lesson' is very interactive and engaging.....just my humble 2 cents of ideas...

We need to understand the journey of the education system and why we are here. Acceptance of all pupils however they are, is difficult but we need to remember that perception creates a curtain that blinds us from seeing the real true self.
Just the four of us
After reading this chapter, I felt sorry for the boy as he was discouraged by the adults for his drawings. As a teacher, I felt that we should encourage our pupils to pursue their interests even though they might not excel in that area. Every child has a talent waiting to be discovered.

Well, well, well. Words teachers say will not be forgotten. About 24 years ago, when I was in P6 (well now stop guessing my age!), I can still vividly remember this scene : I was asked to read a short paragraph - and there's this line and it goes something like - "the thieves are nowhere to be seen", I read it off as - "the thieves are NOW HERE to be seen!" That's it, that's it! It was closely followed up with a 30-minute lecture. Phew! Beware, children do have a good memory for things like this though we wished they would have a good memory for their studies rather.
